Last time I recommended the book 8 Reasons Your Life Matters by John Herrick; today, I’d like to share a few excerpts from the book.
If God can make the sunrise – if He can arrange the planet the perfect distance from the sun and keep it on course each day – then He can tackle anything in my life
God hadn’t caused Joseph’s [Jacob’s son] horrible circumstances. That had resulted from his brother’s actions, human free will. But God did work those circumstances together in Joseph’s favor. In the context of darkness, Joseph developed leadership and managerial skills as he pressed forward, step by step.
Consider [many] individuals from the Bible. Each person was aware of a personal shortcoming which should have rendered him disqualified for service. God, however, saw champion potential.
God has high regard for those who are the least. Jesus said, “For the one who is least among all of you, this is the one who is great” (Luke 9:48) and “But many who are first will be last; and the last, first” (Matthew 19:30).
All created things began with a spoken word before any physical formation occurred. All except mankind. God didn’t first speak mankind into existence. He began with physical formation. He formed the first man, Adam, from the dust of the ground. God gave special attention to Adam, fashioning him just the way He wanted him….God created you with a purpose and destiny. He designed you to make an impact in His creation….God didn’t create a warm body to fill a void…..Your absence would leave a hole in this world. And while your presence might go unnoticed at times, your absence would actually take something away from the lives around you.
